The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology physics department opened a two-day national convention on Advances in Physics on the campus on Tuesday.

University vice-chancellor Saleh Uddin inaugurated the programme as the chief guest in the central auditorium.

Physics chairperson Yasmin Haque, also the convener of the convention, chaired the programme that was addressed, among others, by treasurer Ilias Uddin Bishwas and professors Abdul Hannan and Sharif Md Sharif Uddin.

Bangladesh University of Science and Technology professor Ali Asgar presented the keynote paper at the plenary session and South East University vice-chancellor Shamser Ali placed the main paper at the ‘invited talk session’.
