Bangladesh Bank on Thursday introduced new software to monitor the overall export process in the country, which is expected to help bring about transparency in export process, boost export earnings and cut time.

Central bank governor Atiur Rahman inaugurated the software ‘EXP Online Monitoring System’ at a function at its conference hall. The software was in place on experimental basis from November 1 last year.

Two major objectives of the new system are to receive export information from banks in a web based environment through a series of check points and analyse data to monitor the overall export process in the country.

‘The monitoring of export activities has become effective and faster with the introduction of the system. Both the exporters and authorised dealers will be benefited from the new system,’ Atiur said while inaugurating the new system.

He said the new system would also help cut banks’ working hours and cost to a large extent.

Central bank deputy governor Nazneen Sultana, executive director M  Ahsan Ullah and chairman of the Association of Bankers’, Bangladesh M Nurul Amin, among others, spoke on the occasion.
