Prachyanat celebrates 15th anniversary

A two-day festival titled Andarjatra organised to celebrate 15th founding anniversary of popular theatre troupe Prachyanat ended on Wednesday at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Each day of the festival the troupe members gave an overview of their activities through live performance, documentary screening and other displays at the different places of the theatre hall, where the viewers had never experienced before.
The Andarjatra (getting an inside view) package began at the passage towards the theatre hall. On the place, a documentary featuring interviews, opinions and feelings of fans and members of the troupe was displayed.
The travelling festival then took the audience to a large room beside the Experimental Theatre Hall where artistes of Prachyanat presented a choreography synchronised with rhythm of dhak and dhol. A photography exhibition featuring images of different productions of the troupe was also another attraction.
The audiences were then taken to the lobby of the theatre hall where photographs of the present and former members of the troupe were on display.
However, the main attraction of travelling show was offered inside the theatre hall where the troupe members displayed rehearsal room experiences through entertaining live performances.
At the programme, it was informed that the troupe has created eleven theatre productions including Circus Circus, Paater Khela, Trisanku, Pinic, A New Testament, Koinna, Mayer Mukh, Mandar, A Man of All Seasons, Gandar, Kinu Kaharer Thetar since its inception in February 1997.
The festival also paid tribute to iconic actor Humayun Faridee, who died recently.
