Housewife commits suicide in Narsingdi

A housewife allegedly committed suicide by setting her body on fire at village Hajipur in Narsingdi sadar upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Bina Rani Saha, 48, wife of Drobaraj Saha, resident of Bhairab Bazar in the upazila.

Local people said Bina Rani had committed suicide pouring kerosene as she failed to bear the pressure of money lenders.

According to the locals, Drobaraj was the prominent rice wholesaler of Bhairob Bazar.  He lost in his business and went into hiding since last eight months as he took loan from different people and bank.

As Drobaraj remained hiding, money lenders put pressure on Bina Rani for repayment of loans and they took away all the furniture from his house.

In a bid to save her from the wrath of the money lenders, Bina Rani secretly came to village Hajipur with her two children and rented a room three months back.

But the money lenders found the whereabouts of Bina Rani and started putting pressure again to repay the loans.

After failing to bear the disgrace, Bina set her ablaze after pouring kerosene on her body. She died instantly.

Being informed, the police went to the spot and recovered body.

The body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
