US ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena visited three polling centers under Mohanpur upazila in the district of Rajshahi Wednesday morning.
Dan Mozena, as a member of International observer team, visited the Mohanpur government high school, Bakshimoil government primary school and Basontokedar primary high school at around 9.00am.
During his visit, Dan Mozena talked to the voters, polling agents, presiding officers and members of the law enforcement agencies. Later he took part in a media gaggle but did not make any comments regarding voting.
He said after reaching Dhaka he will meet with the other observers and send a formal comment to the media.
Later ambassador Mozena also visited the Varendra Research Museum at noon to see the recently completed $94,933 interior renovation project funded by the United States through the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.
He announced an additional grant of $85,000 from the fund to restore and renovate the exterior of the museum.
He said this country is truly blessed. The envoy said: ‘I see the rich natural resources. I see the wonderful people, who are the best in the world in my opinion and I see the proud history and rich cultural heritage…’
Dan Mozena said nowhere is this heritage more evident than right here in Rajshahi Varendra Research Museum where Bangladesh’s roots can be traced back to over 2,000 years, the most ancient of times.
This museum is a wondrous place filled with antiquities that are recognized the world over as truly priceless, he added.
