Uttorer Sur wins Best Film Award

Shahneoyaj Cacoly’s Uttorer Sur has been awarded the Best Film award at the National Film Award 2012, says a gazette notification from the Information Department on Thursday.
The film also won three other awards in Best Story Writer - Shahneoyaj Cacoly, Best Supporting Role (female) – Lucy Gomes and Special Child Actor award - Meghla. 
A production of Impress Telefilm, Uttorer Sur is about the life of a singer and her little daughter who sing and beg in the street to earn their living in the northern part of the country. The film cast includes Utpal, Lucy, Meghla, and others.
A total of 24 awards were declared in this edition of National Film Award. The Best Director award was posthumously awarded to late legendary author and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed for his film Ghetuputra Kamola. Noted actors Joya Ahsan and Shakib Khan received Best Actor (female) and (male) awards for their films Chorabali and Khodar Pore Ma, respectively. 
Besides, Emon Saha received Best Music Director award for the film Ghetuputra Kamola. Emon Saha also bagged the Best Composer award for the song Ayna Amar Adhar Raater Ayna from the film Pita. Milton Khondokar received Best Lyricist award for the song Ma Tumi Amar Aage Jeyona Ko More from the film Khodar Pore Ma.
Runa Laila received Best Singer Female award for her song Jakhon Taake Dekhechhi from the film Tumi Ashbe Bole and Palash won Best Singer Male award for his song Ma Tumi Amar Aage from film Khodar Pore Ma.
Seasoned actor ATM Shamsuzzaman and Shahiduzzaman Selim received awards in the Best Supporting Role and Best Villain categories respectively for the film Chorabali. Mamun received Best Child Actor award for Ghetuputra Kamola while Humayun Ahmed received Best Screenplay Writer award for the same film. Redowan Rony received Best Dialogue award for Chorabali. Seasoned actor Khalil Ullah Khan received Life Time Achievement award. 
Mahfuzur Rahman Khan received Best Cinematographer award for Ghetuputra Kamola while Ripon Nath got Best Sound Director award for the film Chorabali. Salim Ullah Khan got Best Editor award for Ghetuputra Kamola. Kamaltar and Uttamguha have jointly received Best Art Director award for the film Raja Surja Khan while Mainuddin Fuad and Khalilur Rahman respectively received Best Costume Designer and Best Makeup Man for film Ghetuputra Kamola.
