Moudud, Mahbub, Rafiqul released on bailNew Age Online
Three senior Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders, Moudud Ahmed, Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Rafiqul Islam Mia were released on bail from Kashimpur Central Jail on Tuesday.
Vice-chairman of Bar Council Khandker Mahbub Hossain, also an adviser to the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and the party standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia were released from Kashimpur Central Jail 2 around 11:20am.
Jail superintendent Jahangir Alam confirmed the news to New Age.
Meanwhile, BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed was freed from Kashimpur Central Jail 1 around 12:30pm, the jailor Abdul Kuddus confirmed.
Family members and party leaders greeted the senior leaders at the jail gate.
Khandker Mahbub had got bail from the High Court on Monday while the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Sunday upheld the bail order of Rafiqul Islam Mia and Moudud Ahmed along with two other BNP leaders by dismissing the appeal by the state on January 21.
Rafiqul and Moudud were detained from in front of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on November 8 last year while Mahbub was arrested from the capital's National Press Club on January 7.
