Chhayanaut was formed in 1964 to uphold Bangali nationalism in a time when the Pakistani regime tried to infuse Arabic and Urdu culture.
The concluding day’s programme began with a chorus presentation of Tagore song Sobare Kori Ahoban by the Chhayanaut artistes. Subsequently they presented a baul song titled Manush Bhojle Sonar Manush Hobi.
The crowd was also delighted when they listened to the folk numbers like Gorte Moder Sonar Bangla and Ei Je Duniya Kiser O Lagiya performed in chorus by the artistes of Folk Department of Chhayanaut.
The programme also included colourful dance recitals presented by noted dancers of the country. Warda Rihab presented a manipuri dance in solo performance, Karna Kamolika presented the beauty of Bharatnatyam dance and Farhana Ahmed along with Sonia Rashid presented a duet performance of manupuri dance all which brought colour to the programme.
