One of the country’s largest mobile operators, Banglalink Limited, introduced national cricketer Sakib al Hasan as their new brand ambassador at a city hotel on Saturday.
Sakib was chosen to represent Banglalink for the next two years. The 26-year old all-rounder will take part in a various number of promotional activities for the telecom company.
Sakib, who is the world’s top ranked all-rounder, said he was elated after agreeing to represent Banglalink. He said the contract with Banglalink will help him to perform better in the future.
Before leaving for Chittagong, the venue for the second and final Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Sakib urged his teammates to forget the previous match where the hosts suffered an innings and 248-run defeat.
‘It will be better for us to forget the last match and I strongly believe that this was only a bad game for us and we have the potential to return to the race,’ said Sakib, who scored a half century and scalped three wickets in the Dhaka Test.
‘Now, we have to learn from the failures of the last match and I believe that we will not repeat the same mistakes in the next match,’ added Sakib.
However, unlike head coach Shane Jurgensen, ace all-rounder Sakib said that the burning issue of the two-tier system in Test cricket hardly had any impact in the Tigers’ dressing room.
‘Personally speaking, I was not distracted by issues that were happening off-the-field and to be honest, it was the same for other members of the team,’ he said.
