Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Sunday that BNP is vowing to unseat what he termed the oppressive and autocratic government of ruling Awami League through democratic movements.
Talking to reporters after placing wreath at the memorial of late president Ziaur Rahman, he said AL has taken hold of power like ‘heavy-weight stone’ through a farcical election.
BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, and other party leaders also placed wreaths at the tomb of Ziaur Rahman, also the founder of BNP, on the occasion of his 78th birth anniversary.
Fakhrul said BNP is also pledging that they would ensure people’s voting rights by freeing the democracy through movements.
