The British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Gibson is going to meet BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday evening at her residence, reported bdnews24.com.
The meeting comes three days after the parliamentary elections, which BNP boycotted and tried to stop by enforcing strikes and blockades.
Khaleda Zia has remained at her residence since December 29 when police prevented her to come out during her ‘March for Democracy’.
A day after, Gibson went to her residence and had a meeting with her.
A British High Commission’s spokesperson told bdnews24.com that Gibson was getting ' updated with the latest political developments.'
According to the BNP Chairperson’s office, the High Commissioner is scheduled to meet the Chairperson around 7:30pm.
The UK earlier expressed its disappointment over the elections as more than half the seats had returned winners uncontested.
In a statement, it, however, urged parties for reconciliation to uphold people’s interests.
