Attacks on minorities could be suicidal: Obaidul QuaderNew Age Online
Awami League presidium member Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said the people involved in instigating attacks on religious minority should remember that it could endanger life of Muslim minorities in the neigbouring countries.
‘Please stop playing with fire and snake…carrying out attacks on minorities could be suicidal,’ he said while exchanging views with the assistant secretaries of the party’s sub-committees’ at AL chief’s Dhanmondi office in the morning.
Quader said the ruling party was passing through a transition after the 10th parliamentary elections that were held amid violence and attacks on religious minorities.
The AL leader said the party high command would identify the leaders who were converging in Dhaka to lobby for becoming ministers, leaving the minority communities of their respective areas insecure.
Quader, also communications minister, said HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party might prefer their position as opposition in the next parliament.
AL organizing secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Dipu Moni and office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap were present at the meeting.
