Terrorists torch 531 schools, collegesNew Age Online
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Tuesday that a total of 531 educational institutions (school and colleges) were arson attacked across the country by terrorists during the 10th general election that was held on January 5.
‘How much could they be cruel and inhuman? How could they torch it? They did it only to foil the elections,’ he said adding that he strongly protested and condemned such offense.
Nahid, also the primary and mass education minister disclosed the number of damaged schools and colleges to the reporters and expressed his grievances over the violence.
He was talking to reporters after visiting a damaged school at Dakshin Khan in the capital's Uttara area, this morning.
He also said appropriate punishment would be awarded to the troublemakers, after tracing them, Somoy TV, a private satellite TV channel, reported.
