21 BNP-Jamaat men held in two distsNew Age Online
The Joint Force of RAB, BGB and police in separate drives on Tuesday night arrested 21 activists of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami from two districts of the country’s southwestern region.
In Jessore, the Joint Force detained a total of 26 people including nine BNP and two Islami Chhatra Shibir activists.
Reshma Sharmin, assistant superintendent of police in Jessore confirmed the matter to New Age.
In Jhenaidah, the force on the same night arrested ten activists of opposition BNP and Jamaat from Kaliganj area.
The arrestees were wanted in different cases, such as, arson, rioting, attack on law enforcers and damaging property, Kaliganj police said.
Among the arrested, six were BNP activists and remaining four are Jamaat men.
Kaliganj police station officer-in-charge Manir Uddin Mollah said the joint force led by additional superintendent of police Mohammad Hasanuzzaman conducted a drive at Sundarpur village and detained them.
