Faruk named new chief selector

New Age Online

Faruk Ahmed Faruk Ahmed

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday appointed former national captain Faruk Ahmed as the new national chief selector for two years, officials said.
Faruk, who led Bangladesh in the ICC Trophy campaign in 1994, was also the chief selector from 2003 to 2007.
He played a key role in promoting some young players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal in his first term as the chief selector.
The post went vacant after former chief selector Akram Khan stepped down as he became the director of BCB.
‘Faruk received support of majority directors for the post,’ said BCB president Nazmul Hasan.  ‘We hope he will give his best over the next two years.’
Faruk will lead a three-member committee, which also includes former national captain Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar.
