Witness against Sayedee stabbed

Our Correspondent . Barisal

A prosecution witness against condemned convict Delwar Hossain Sayedee was hacked by assailants at his house at Hoglabunia village of Parerhut under Zianagor upazila in Pirojpur on early Sunday.
The victim, Mostafa Haoladar, 58, was the eighth prosecution witness against Sayedee, also Jamaat-e-Islami nayeb-e-amir, in a case in which the International Crimes Tribunal 1 on February 28 sentenced him to death on charge of crimes against humanity committed during the war of independence in 1971.
Mostafa’s wife Hasina Begum, 50, was also injured as she came at his rescue.
Zianagar police officer-in-charge Kamruzzaman said that the assailants entered the room making a hole in the floor at about 2:00am and stabbed the couple.
Both of the injured were rushed to Pirojpur general hospital and then to Khulna Medical College Hospital, from where Mustafa was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, the police sources said.
Hafizur Rahman, son of the victims accompanying them, said that the assailants also hit Mostafa in the eye and forehead with a crowbar and his condition was critical.
The house of upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad commander Mahbubul Alam Hawlader’Holadar, also a witness against Sayedee, was also ransacked and looted on October 28, 2013.
