Freedom fighters on Wednesday staged protests against countrywide violence and urged the people to save the country from political ills.
They made the call at two separate programmes held at the Central Shaheed Minar and in front of the National Press Club in the city.
A group of freedom fighters who had been staging a three-day hunger strike since Monday at the Central Shaheed Minar said that a democratic Bangladesh would be established when the country would be freed from Rajakars and war criminals.
They are likely to hold a rally on December 6 in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh.
The Central Command Council of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad formed a human chain in front of the press club
about 11:00am in protest at killings, bomb blasts and arson attacks across the country.
Speakers at the programme urged all to stage protests against the violence across the country.
The chairman of the organisation Sagir Ahmed Khan, its vice-chairman Moinuddin and member SM Jahangir Alam, among others, were present.
The human chain was followed by a procession.
