Freedom fighter killed in SatkhiraNew Age Online
A freedom fighter, Alauddin alias Khokon, indiscriminately stabbed at around zero hours Wednesday, died in a hospital this morning in Satkhira.
Local freedom fighters alleged that Jamaat-Shibir men might have stabbed him. However, Jamaat denies the allegation.
The assailants attacked Alauddin, 67, while he was asleep, as usual after taking his dinner in the veranda of his Varashimla resident under Kaliganj upazila, family members said.
A group of miscreants, numbering 10-12, hacked him and vanished, assuming he succumbed to his injuries, they added.
Later, he was rushed to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where he died at 7:00am, relatives of Alauddin said.
Sheikh Wahiduzzaman, commander of Kaliganj upazila unit Muktijoddha Sangsad and also the upazila unit Awami League president claimed that Alauddin was killed by Jamaat-Shibir activists.
Ali Azam Khan, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station said they are probing the motive behind the murder.
