150 Shibir activists charged for police attackNew Age Online
The Jhenaidah police on Friday filed a case against 150 activists of the Jamaat-backed student front Islami Chhatra Shibir, naming 22 of them, with the local police station.
Police sub inspector Ziarul Islam as a complainant filed the case. Two policemen were injured when Shibir men had pelted brickbats and stones at the law enforcers Thursday morning near Jhenaidah Press Club.
Jhenaidah police station officer in charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed said the Shibir supporters had brought out a rally from Kabi Sukanta Sarak at about 9.00am on Thursday.
When their rally arrived near Jhenaidah Press Club, the police barred them from moving any further. The agitated ICS men started pelting brickbats and stones at law enforcers from different directions, leaving two policemen, Sohan and Sazib, injured.
