Two RU BCL activists injuredNew Age Online
Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League Rajshahi University unitwere injured during an attack by some miscreants at Binodpur area in Rajshahi, Tuesday noon.
They were organising secretary of BCL RU unit Shoriful Islam Saddam and activist Golam Rabbany Tufan.
Witnesses said Saddam and Tufan were going to Dhorompur by motor bike at about 12.00pm.
A group of miscreants with machetes and fire arms stopped them and cut the tendons on Saddam's hands and legs.
They also fired two rounds of bullets, leaving Tufan injured, and escaped the scene.
Later, locals rescued them and sent them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The Chhtra League, however, accused Islami Chhatra Shibir for the attack and blocked Dhaka- Rajshahi highway in front the university main entrance, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.
Quoting physicians, Chhatra League Rajshahi Medical College unit president Aminul Islam said that Saddam's condition was critical because of heavy bleeding.
Officer-in-charge of Motihar police station Abdus Sobhan said that they would raid the suspected areas to nab the attackers.
A case will be lodged in this connection, he added.
RU proctor Tarikul Hasan said that tight security measures have been taken in students’ dormitories.
On August 23, some miscreants cut tendons of BCL RU unit secretary Touhid-al-Tuhin and on 19 September tendons of a BCL activist were severed.
On 21 November, 2012 BCL vice president Akheruzzaman Takim’s tendons were cut.
