Two ICT staffs put on 8-day remandNew Age Online
A Dhaka court on Saturday granted 8-day remand to grill the two employees of the International Crimes Tribunal, for their alleged involvement in leaking parts of the draft judgement on Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.
Metropolitan magistrate Abdus Salam granted the remand each in the case filed against them after hearing the pleas.
DB police placed Nayan Ali and Farukh Hossain, the duo, before the court of metropolitan magistrate, in the afternoon, with a prayer for 10 days interrogation under police custody.
On Friday, DB police arrested an employee of the ICT for his alleged involvement in stealing the draft judgement on Salauddin.
The ICT 1 on October 1, pronounced the judgement, sentencing Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmaker Salauddin to death on charge of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in Chittagong during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Just after the pronouncement of the verdict, Salauddin’s family and his defence lawyer AKM Fakhrul Islam claimed that they had found the judgement on different websites two days before it was delivered.
They also claimed that the judgement had been prepared by the law ministry.
Detective Branch inspector Fazlur Rahman on Friday filed a case with Shahbagh police station accusing Nayan, Farukh Hossain, Mehedi Hassan and some unknown persons of leaking the parts of the draft judgement.
