At least two vehicles were set ablaze at Rangunia and Raujan upazilas on Monday night and Tuesday morning ahead of BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s war crimes verdict.
Police suspect the incident may have link to the verdict.
Miscreants set afire a CNG-run three wheeler near Godown area at Rangunia Tuesday morning and police suspect they did it to create panic among the people, ahead of SQC verdict.
Chandon Kumar Chakroborthy, officer-in-charge of Rangunia Police Station said that they came to know about the incident at 8:00am, but none was arrested in this regard as miscreants fled the scene soon after the incident.
Meanwhile, a bus was set fire at Gohira area of Raujan on Monday late night.
Officer-in-charge of Raujan Police Station Anamul Haque said the incident might have taken place out of personal enmity, taking advantage of the situation.
Sources said that minorities in Raujan were panicked as they feared attack following the verdict against SQC.
