GB to come under BB jurisdiction: MuhithNew Age Online
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Sunday said the Grameen Bank will be brought under the ‘jurisdiction’ of the Bangladesh Bank.
The other matters of the bank, such as the government’s 25 per cent stakes and three directors of the board will remain the same, he said. He was talking about possible recommendations of the GB commission to the reporters after a meeting of cabinet committee on national purchase at the secretariat.
Muhith said the GB commission will submit their final recommendations at the end of this month.
He said Muhammad Yunus and his supporters obtained an injunction on the government appointed search committee for appointment of a managing director to the GB.
The government has taken a move to vacate the injunction, he said, adding, none was employed against the post of MD of the bank for the last one year.
Muhith blamed Yunus saying he (Yunus) wanted to appoint his own man there.
