Submit summary of argument by Sept 29: SCNew Age Online
The Appellate Division on Sunday asked the defence counsel for death-row war crimes prisoner Mohammad Kamaruzzaman to submit by September 29 the summary of arguments in the matter of the appeal he had filed against his conviction.
A five-judge bench chaired by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain set the date after hearing the petition, filed earlier by the defence, seeking two weeks to submit its summary of arguments.
Kamaruzzaman’s chief counsel Abdur Razzaq moved the time petition and attorney general Mahbubey Alam opposed the time petition.
On June 6, Kamaruzzaman filed his appeal petition against his death sentence.
On May 9, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentenced him to death for crimes against humanity he had committed in 1971 in Mymensingh and Sherpur.
