Miscreants attack Ganajagaran Mancha activist, Juba Dal leaderNew Age Online
A Ganajagaran Mancha activist and a Jubo Dal leader were injured in separate attacks by miscreants in Moulvibazar Thursday night, police said.
In one incident, the victim Liton Debnath, 28, an activist of Moulvibazar Ganajagaran Mancha and former president of the Samajtantrik Chhatra Front of Moulvibazar Government College unit, was attacked by a group of miscreants at about 9:00 pm in front of Ahmed Mansion Shopping Centre at Chawmuhana area of the town.
Liton was waiting there for a friend with his motor bike. After hearing a hue and cry, people came to the spot and the miscreants fled the scene.
Liton was sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital as his condition was serious.
Md. Azizur Rahman, officer-in-Charge of Moulvibazar sadar police station said police have started a drive to nab the miscreants.
In another incident, Tofayel, a Jubo Dal leader of Molvibazar unit, was attacked by miscreants in front of his house.
Family members said Tofayel was returning to his Syed Mujtaba Ali Road’s house at about 10:00 pm and when he reached at the main gate of his house, miscreants swooped on him with sharp weapons. Later, the miscreants escaped from the spot.
Tofayel was admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
Md. Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Moulvibazar sadar police station said ‘The reason behind the attack was not clear. Police are trying to capture the miscreants.’
