Popular actor Nusrat Imrose Tisha, widely known by her nickname, has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for Public Diplomacy for a period of two years by the foreign ministry of Republic of Korea on September 10, according to a press release issued by the Korean Embassy in Dhaka.
The Korean ambassador Lee Yun-young handed-over the appointment letter to the Bangladeshi actress on Monday at the embassy.
An excited Tisha believes it is her great achievement as an actress and she is well-prepared for her responsibilities as a goodwill ambassador.
‘I would try to further strengthen people to people relationship between the two friendly nations. We do have a strong economic relation and I would try my best to see that the cultural ties are made even stronger,’ Tisha told New Age.
‘Asian countries share similar emotional mindscape. So it would be great to see more cultural exchange between us. Most importantly, Korea has become an economic and technological superpower. Bangladesh can be benefited from them in many ways and I would try to explore the opprtunities,’ she added.
The popular small and silver screen actor also thinks that her appointment will help develop a strong bond between the film industries of these two countries. ‘Korean cinema is a big phenomenon now. They are also doing great in sports too. So we can be benefited from them if we can see a growing number of students going to study engineering, arts, or sports related subjects. We can take advantage of their state-of-the-art medicare system as well,’ Tisha hopes.
