Alim’s defence asked to end closing arguments Thursday
ICT defers Azharul’s charge hearingNew Age Online
International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Wednesday asked the defence team of war crimes accused Abdul Alim to conclude their closing arguments by tomorrow (Thursday).
The tribunal asked the defence team to comply as it could not complete its arguments in four days.
Today (Wednesday) Alim’s lawyer Ahsanul Haq Hena argued on the factual aspects of the four charges brought against Alim.
Earlier, in three days Hena argued on six other charges and sought to discredit the prosecution witnesses.
His arguments remained incomplete when the tribunal adjourned proceedings until tomorrow.
Alim was in the dock.
Meanwhile, ICT-1 deferred the date of charge framing hearing against the detained Jamaat-e-Islami leader ATM Azharul Islam to September 23.
A junior lawyer of the defence team Nazid Momen appeared before the tribunal and sought an adjournment as his senior lawyer M Tajul Islam could not appear before the tribunal for personal difficulties.
