Robi teams up with Ericsson, Huawei, NSN for 3GStaff Correspondent
Mobile phone operator Robi on Monday announced that it had teamed up with Ericsson, Huawei and NSN for building its 3G network after recently winning the 3G service licence with 5MHz spectrum.
‘Our goal is a quality customer experience rather than just a speedy execution. We are working for that and with the best partners,’ Robi chief executive officer Michael Kuehner said at a press briefing at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city.
Robi chief technology officer AKM Morshed said there was no chance of trouble for using equipment of different vendors.
Robi is set to launch limited 3G service in October and expand the nationwide service by March next year.
It will invest $200 million in network development in the next year, with $60 million earmarked for the rollout of 3G technology.
Robi will use the wireless technology known as 3.5G, which is faster than the traditional 3G technology.
Ericsson managing director in Bangladesh Gary Dewing said, ‘Ericsson Bangladesh is proud to be Robi’s 3G technology partner. We will build world-class, high speed mobile broadband for Robi subscribers with our global experience.’
