Mahakal organises 13-day festCultural Correspondent
Mahakal Natya Sampradaya will celebrate its 30th founding anniversary by organising a 13-day festival which will begin tomorrow simultaneously at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and at Chhayanaut in Dhanmondi.
Thirty local and six Indian troupes will stage 38 plays by the major representatives of the world theatre in the festival titled Biswanatoker Juth Utsab-2013 (collective display of world theatre), said the organisers at a press conference held on Monday at the seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The organisers also informed that the festival is divided into three sections—the first four days will feature foreign
plays, second four days will feature plays of Rabindranath Tagore and the remaining last five days will feature local productions.
It was also informed at the press conference that Mohakal Natya Sampradaya will premier its latest production Prometheus on September 27 at Chhayanaut auditorium.
Mir Zahid Hasan, chief of Mahakal and chief coordinator of the festival; Golam Kuddus, president of Bangladesh Sammilito Sangskritik Jote; Amelesh Chakraborty, chief of Kolkata-based troupe Anik Theatre; theatre personality Ananta Hira, and others attended the press conference.
