21 detained at Benapole borderNew Age Online
Border Guard Bangladesh personnel Friday night arrested 21 people from Putkhali frontier under Benapole land port police station just before they were being attempted to get trafficked to India.
The arrested, however, claimed that they were going to India for treatment, business and tourism purposes. Later, they were handed over to the police.
BGB and Benapole port station police said the border guards nabbed the people from a place along Putkhali frontier at around 10:00 pm Friday.
Of the detained, three are children and four women.
Alo Das, 65, wife of Bhadra Das of Chittagong told newsmen that she was going to India for treatment purposes with the help of a broker (trafficker) to avoid harassments in obtaining passport and visa.
