The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested three Nigerian citizens during a drive at the Dhaka Regency hotel in the capital’s Khilkhet and other places, on charge of fraudulence, officials disclosed on Wednesday.
The DB team led by additional deputy commissioner Mahfuzul Islam arrested Adlaju Samul from the hotel on Tuesday.
After primary interrogation, he revealed that they were involved in fraudulent dollar exchange business.
The DB team then raided a flat at 63/4, Lake Circus and arrested two others - Okoxe Cmeko Emmoruel and Okafor Chike - for the same alleged crime, said the ADC.
The police also seized material and liquid used in manufacturing fake dollars.
They were sent to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court.
The detectives said a Dhaka Regency executive had provided two lakh takas to be converted to dollar, which the Nigerian failed to give back.
