Shibir men injured in Juba League attackNew Age Online
At least seven activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, were wounded seriously in an attack, allegedly by armed activists of Juba League, youth front of the ruling Awami League, in Jessore district Friday morning.
The Juba League men attacked the procession of Chhatra Shibir at Nabharan Bazar on the Jessore-Benapole highway with bombs and hand-made weapons, eyewitnesses said.
Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Sharsha police station told journalists that seven Shibir men were injured as the Juba League men attacked the procession.
The attackers hurled five to seven crude bombs at the procession, he said.
The situation is now under control, Jalil said, adding that the law enforcers arrested four Shibir activists and seized a crude bomb and some weapons from the spot.
Of the wounded, Abu Sufian, 21, Abul Hossain, 18, Abdul Hye, 22, and Hosne Ara Begum, 17, were rushed to hospital.
