Thirty-km long tailback on Dhaka-Ctg highwayNew Age Online
Traffic on Dhaka-Chittagong highway is moving at a snail’s pace due to congestion over 30 kilometres, following an accident in Comilla district Friday morning.
The mishap occurred between a truck and a lorry as they collided head-on at Choygharia area under Chandina upazila of the district at about 6:30am, said Rois Uddin, sergeant of Daudkandi highway police.
After three hours of the accident, police were able to remove the vehicles from the road, but by then long queues of traffic had formed.
Vehicles are now moving slowly through a huge tailback from Nimshar area under Chandina upazila to Gouripur area of Daudkandi upazila, Rois Uddin said, till the filing of this report at 1:15pm.
It will take a few more hours to get back normalcy, he expected.
