The admission tests for public and private medical and dental colleges will be held during the first week of the October, health minister AFM Ruhal Haque said Tuesday.
The minister told the reporters at the secretariat that they wanted to get the admission tests done before the Eid-ul- Azha.
He said the date of exams will be announced later.
Health ministry officials said the tests will be held under the present system.
According to the Directorate of Health Services, all medical and dental colleges in Bangladesh have a total 8,493 seats. There are 2,811 seats in 22 government medical colleges and 4,245 in 53 private medical colleges.
The nine public dental colleges and the dental units of medical colleges have 567 seats, while the 14 private dental institutes have some 870 seats.
