Ansarullah boss on remand for Rajib killingNew Age Online
A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted seven days’ remand to interrogate Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmany, the mastermind of Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Rahmany, the militant outfit chief of ABT, was arrested with other members from Barguna on August 12.
Metropolitan magistrate Harun-or-Rashid granted the remand as Detective Branch inspector Mainul Islam prayed 10 days remand to grill him in the murder case of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider, filed under Pallabi police station in the capital.
Known as Thaba Baba (Claw) in the community of bloggers, Rajib, one of the initiators of the Shahbagh protests, was hacked to death near his Mirpur home on February 15 night.
A murder case was filed with the station the following day, which was transferred to the Detective Branch for investigation.
On March 10, the CMM court recorded the confessional statements of five persons arrested recently in connection with the killing of blogger Rajib in the Mirpur area.
Metropolitan magistrate Harun-or-Rashid recorded the statements of the expelled North South University students – Faisal Bin Nayeem, 22, also known as Dip, Maksudul Hassan Ashiq, 23, Ehsan Reza Rumman, 23, Nayeem Sikder, 19, also known as Irad, and Nafiz Imtiaz, 22.
In their confessional statements under 164, they told Rahmany’s name in connection with the killing of Rajib.
