BNP cannot step into trap of AL: Mosharraf
He welcomes UN chief’s dialogue callNew Age Online
BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain Saturday said BNP cannot step into the trap of Awami League by introducing a proposal in the House on election-time government, responding to the Prime Minister’s advice.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her telephone conversation with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday told him that they would welcome the opposition’s proposal if it were placed in the ensuing parliament session.
Ban rang Sheikh Hasina and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Friday and talked about holding talks over the next general election.
Addressing a rally at Jatiya Press Club, the senior BNP leader said the ruling party would outright reject the opposition’s move through a voice-vote by its brute majority if the proposal were placed in the parliament.
‘Therefore, BNP cannot step into any conspiracy or trap of the ruling AL,’ he said.
The BNP leader rather urged the AL to bring election time non-party government bill in the House and then pass it. He said BNP would extend supports to this end.
Mosharraf welcomed the phone calls made by the UN Secretary General to the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition.
