Former chief justice Kemaluddin Hossain died on early Wednesday at the age of 90.
Justice Kemaluddin was the fourth chief justice of Bangladesh and performed duties from February 1, 1978 to April 11, 1982.
He left behind his wife, three sons and a number of relatives and well-wishers.
Justice Kemaluddin, who had been suffering old age complications, was under treatment at the United Hospital in Baridhara in the capital, his daughter-in-law Farmin Islam told New Age.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Supreme Court premise after zahr prayer and will be buried at the Bannai grave yard after holding another namaz-e-janaza at the Azad Mosque in Ghulsan in the afternoon.
Justice Kemaluddin was appointed at East Pakistan High Court judge in 1969 and later promoted to the Appellate Division after the country was liberated from Pakistan in 1971.
He was forced to retire as the chief justice during the regime of former president HM Ershad in 1982.
He served as the law commission chairman from 1998 to 2001.
Kemaluddin also appointed as deputy attorney general of the East Pakistan High Court in 1968.
He won Ananda ward in 1998 for his contribution to the judiciary.
