BGB rescued 500 women, children from traffickers in 7 monthsNew Age online
Border Guard Bangladesh has foiled about 150 human trafficking attempts and rescued nearly 500 women and children in the last seven months along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Of the victims, 390 women and 104 children were rescued from January 1 to July 31, the BGB officials said Wednesday.
The BGB officials so far detained 13 alleged human-traffickers and handed them over to respective police stations and had filed 145 cases.
The BGB personnel have also recovered 3,20,201 bottles of Phensidyl, 3,08,900 pieces of Yaba tablets, and other illicit drugs.
A senior BGB official told New Age that they have arrested 959 alleged smugglers in the last seven months and filed 14,748 cases across the country in connection with the smuggling.
