The family of Priti Das, young engineer who was killed being hurt by a stone thrown at a running train by miscreants, urged the railway authority to take stern actions to stop the recurrence of such incidents and ensure safe journey by train.
At a press conference on Saturday morning, they also demanded that the people involved in pelting stones at the train be brought to book immediately.
They termed the death of Priti murder and demanded capital punishment for the perpetrators.
Priti’s husband Mintu Kumar Das, along with other relatives, approached the journalists to express their grievances and raise the voice against such heinous act.
Billboards detailing the statistics of death from such incident must be set up at the risky points of railway tracks to create awareness among the people, he said.
The demands include keeping ready an emergency medical team in train with first aid kit box, increasing railway police with the permission to shoot at stone pelting suspects if situation demands, regular police surveillance by the members of concerned police station at the areas where the train faces such attacks and creating a fund for the people affected in such incidents.
Mintu said that after the demise of Priti, people from all strata came to comfort them.
Priti’s father Dilip Das, mother-in-law, father-in-law, her two brothers and other relatives were present at the press conference.
