False claim of dead bodies
THE Rana Plaza tragedy in Savar is the deadliest man-made disaster ever to occur in Bangladesh since the liberation war. However, watching those brave rescuers and civilians, who have carried out the rescue operation to save the survivors, provided us with a sense of unity and made us proud that, even in the darkest of times, Bangladeshis did not succumb to defeat and were perpetually ready to protect their fellow men, even at the risk of their own lives.
However, there have been some reports on television, which say some unscrupulous people have framed dead bodies as their relatives’, taken the compensation money and left off. This is outrageous and inhumane, and these culprits should be punished for stealing the aid which is desperately needed by the survivors and their families.
At a time, when humanity and comfort is what the victims of the tragedy deserve to get, it is disheartening that there are still many amongst us who remain disunited and act for their selfish interest.
