Three ‘robbers’ lynched in GazipurNew Age Online
Three suspected robbers were lynched at Raonat Merur Tek area under Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district early Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Ramjan, 25, son of Nayamat Ali of Kalampur village of Mymensingh district, Masum, 22, of Palan area from the same district, and Babul, 24, a human hauler driver and a resident of Raynnanda village of Gazipur district.
Three of the villagers were also injured by the assaults of the robbers. They were: Niranjan Dash, 40, his mother and a neighbor Russel, 23.
Md Delowar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kapashia police station, said, a group of robbers went to rob Niranjan’s house at Raonat Merur Tek area at 4:30am Wednesday.
The robbers hit the Niranjan and his mother with a machete as they resisted.
As the family members screamed, neighbours rushed to the house and surrounded the muggers. Villagers also made an announcement through a mosque mike, seeking neighbours’ help.
In their attempt to run away, the robbers suddenly began attacking residents and neighbours, leaving a neighbor, Russel, injured.
The villagers then caught one of the members, Ramjan and beat him to death.
As day light broke, people found another two suspected robbers Babul and Masum on a neighbouring rooftop. The villagers then informed the local police.
Police said angry people beat those two, leaving them critically injured.
Police rescued the injured at 10:30am Wednesday and took them to Kapasia upazila health complex when the attending doctors declared them dead.
Police recovered some lethal weapons including machetes, knifes and sticks from the spot.
The bodies were sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
