Khaleda returns home from Saudi ArabiaNew Age online
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home on Tuesday after performing umrah in Makkah.
She along with her entourage boarded on a flight of Emirates Airlines arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 6:oopm.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its front and associate organisations received Khaleda at the airport.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member MK Anwar, vice chairman Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Dhaka city BNP convenor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, among others, were present at the airport.
Khaleda, also leader of the opposition, during her stay for nine days in Saudi Arabia, performed umrah , offered prayers at Masjid-Al-Haram in Makkah and Masijid-e-Nabawi in Madinah.
She offered fateha at the grave side of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) in Madinah.
Apart from religious rituals, Khaleda Zia exchanged pleasantries with world Muslim leaders in Makkah including Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Lebanon prime minister, Yemen president, Ameer of Qatar and president of Niger who also went to Saudi Arabia to perform umrah, according to BNP chairperson’s Saudi Arabia affairs special envoy M Enamul Haque Chowdhury.
The BNP chairperson left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on July 27 to perform Umrah at the invitation of the Saudi government.
