Primary completion exams duration increasedStaff correspondent
The duration of primary education completion examinations for Class V students has increased by 30 minutes.
A release of the primary and mass education ministry on Monday said that the duration for an exam was increased to two hours and a half from the existing two hours.
The examinations for this year will be held every day from 11:00am to 1:30pm, the release said.
Ministry joint secretary Santosh Kumar Adhikari said that the order was issued on all concerned in this regard.
Ministry sources said that the duration of the exams was increased as this year the students would need to answer 25 per cent competency-based questions and the rest 75 per cent traditional questions.
They said that in 2014, the students would need to answer 50 per cent competency-based questions.
The primary education completion examinations 2013 for Class V students will begin on November 20 and end on November 28.
According to the schedule, the students will take the mathematics exam on November 20, Bangla on November 21, English on November 24, Bangladesh and global studies on November 25, basic science on November 27 and religious instructions on November 28.
About 30 lakh students — 26.49 lakh from general education and 3.2 lakh from madrassah — are expected to take the exams.
The Primary Completion Examinations, the largest public examinations of the country, were introduced in 2009. Ibtedayi completion examinations for madrassah students were introduced in 2010.
