Rapid Action Battalion-2 arrested three suspected Hizbut Tahrir activists from the capital’s Dhanmondi area early Thursday, RAB officials said.
Arrested were identified as Md. Saifullah, a student of computer science and engineering department of State University, Tareq Ahsan, a student of soil science department of Dhaka University and M M Rashedul Alam, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department of United International University.
Lt Col Ziaul Ahsan Director of RAB intelligence wing told New Age that they arrested those radical islamists on a tip-off at about 1:00am.
They have been taken to RAB-2 headquarters, Ziaul said. A case will be lodged in this connection, he further said. RAB also recovered leaflets, radical books and mobiles from their possessions.
The government banned Hizbut-Tahrir in October, 2009.
