Chinese warship for navy arrives in Ctg

Staff Correspondent

A Chinese warship procured for the Bangladesh Navy arrived at the Chittagong Naval Jetty on Monday.
Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib along with senior defence officials received the Bangladesh Naval Ship Durjoy at the jetty, said an Inter-Services Public Relations press release.
Another Chinese warship named BNS Nirmul left the Shanghai Port on January 20 and is expected to reach Chittagong on February 10, ISPR officials said.
They said the 64-metre high-speed warships of large patrol craft category were built by Wuchang Shipyard in Wuhan of China and would be commissioned soon in presence of dignitaries.
Wuchang Shipyard is also building two corvettes for the Bangladesh Navy as part of a drive to modernise the country’s armed forces, the ISPR said.
