UITS students hold demo against fake certificate

Our Correspondent . Rajshahi

Students of University of Information Technology and Science in Rajshahi staged demonstration on Thursday alleging that the university authorities provided them with fake certificates.
Witnesses said a good number of students gathered in front the UITS Hosenyganj campus at around 10:00am and staged demonstration as the authorities had issued `fake’ honors certificates to the graduate students.
The students said they got admitted to University of Information Technology and Science but now the authorities were giving the certificates of Rajshahi University of Information Technology and Science.
They also alleged that some students taking these certificates went to other universities for MBA admission but those universities told the students that there was no university in Bangladesh named Rajshahi University of Information Technology and Science.
The students also said about five hundred students who completed their Bachelor of Business Administration from this university since 2010 were now facing difficulties in getting job and higher studies.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon some students went to the university and tried to meet the coordinator of this university, Arman Ali, but he refused to talk to the students.
When contacted, UITS Rajshahi coordinator Arman Ali told New Age that they were going to establish an independent private university named Rajshahi University of Information Technology and Science.
‘As the process is going on, we are providing certificates with the name of our proposed university,’ he added.
