SUST business students continue demo for dept chair’s removal

Staff Correspondent . Sylhet

Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology business administration on Wednesday continued their demonstrations on the campus for the third consecutive day, demanding withdrawal of the department chair.
The students locked the entrance of the department on the day protesting at alleged irregularities done by the business administration department chair, Nazrul Islam.
The university acting vice-chancellor, Ilias Uddin Bishwas, met the agitating students at about 9:00am and assured them of considering the demand of withdrawal of the business administration department chair, Nazrul Islam.
He also formed a three-member committee, headed by the chemistry department chief, Syed Shamsul Alam, to probe into the matter and asked the committee to submit its repot within the next 72 hours, the campus sources said.
The students, however, claimed that they would continue their movement until the demand was met.
SUST proctor Himadri Sekhar Roy told New Age in the afternoon that they were trying to settle the issue through discussion with the teachers and students concerned.
