Players get into field hungry

Atif Azam . Khulna

Mismanagement in the Bangladesh Premier League hit a new low on Tuesday when players of Chittagong Kings and Rangpur Riders went to play their match hungry as organisers could not provide them with lunch on time.
The delay in serving the food to the dressing room created a repercussion as it took the franchises off guards and put them in an embarrassing situation before overseas players.
Assistant tournament coordinator Jikhrul Ahsan admitted the failure but blamed the local hotel.
‘It happened because of the local hotels who did not want to take orders for food,’ Jikhrul told reporters.
‘Despite several attempts, the City Inn did not listen out our requests and only late night, the Hotel Royal accepted the order,’ he said.
The City Inn’s managing director Alamgir Hossain said that the organisers had ‘only taken the menu card from them but had not contacted them later.’
‘There is no way we kept them waiting because they just took the menu rate,’ Alamgir told reporters.
