Lottery for final selection of workers Jan 23

The final lottery to select 11,500 workers for Malaysian plantations out of the 34,500 short-listed applicants from across the country will be held at the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry on January 23.
Officials said the finally selected workers would be divided on the basis of district quota and called to 13 technical training centres for scrutiny.
Malaysia is set to recruit 10,000 Bangladeshi workers for its plantation sector in the first phase, they said.
In line with a new decision, the final lottery will be held at 3:00pm in presence of print and electronic media, said Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training director Nurul Islam on Monday.
He said as the online registration of applicants in Chittagong and Khulna divisions ended on Monday, the first lotteries to short-list applicants would be held at the offices of the respective deputy commissioners of the divisions today.
According to the BMET list of workers to be selected through the final lottery, the highest 3,140 workers will be selected from Dhaka division.
Among the districts, the highest number of around 406 workers will be selected from Comilla and the lowest 29 workers from Bandarban.
 A total of 13,98,926 applicants had been registered till 7:16pm on Monday. Of them, 2,09,351 were registered in Chittagong division and 2,12,041 in Khulna.
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s Institute of Information and Communication Technology director Saiful Islam, who has been providing technical support to the BMET on registration of workers, told New Age on Monday that the number would increase as the server would keep on recording registrations made in Chittagong and Khulna divisions till 6:00am today.
Earlier in January 13 to 18, Malaysian job aspirants were registered in Dhaka, Barisal, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet divisions.
