Aranyak stages promotional performance

Leading theatre troupe Aranyak will organise a weeklong theatre festival beginning from January 26 marking its 40th anniversary.
The troupe organised an innovative programme on Sunday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to brief the details of the festival.
Instead of holding any press conference, the troupe members circulated the release of the festival in through a dramatic performance at the open space near the National Theatre Hall.
They presented dance, music and acoustics of dhol to create festive mood six days before the beginning of the festival. Audience enjoyed their presentation of Bandona bandona from play Kheak Shiyal, Aji eshechhi esechhi from Moyur Singhasan, Baro basalia geram-e from Sankranti, Aailo aailo jamai from Ebong Bidyasagor and Lepet lepet from popular play Rarang. 
They also performed selected parts of few of Aranyak’s popular productions such as including Kabar, Iblish and Ebong Bidyasagor in the evening.
At the leaflet circulated at the festival reads that the troupe will stage seven plays. Three seminars will also be arranged as part of the festival.
On January 29, a seminar on Janaganer Natok (Play of the people) will be held at the seminar room. Aranyak memorial Dipu award will also be conferred in the closing ceremony on February 01.  
‘We wanted to brief the news of the upcoming festival through a live performance as theatre is live and vibrant. A formal press conference will also be organised,’ Mamunur Rashid, chief of Aranyak said.
